Cute as a bug... a Cuttlebug

Penny and Rusty have found that one of the easiest ways to create cards are to throw in a little embossing. It adds texture and can make things "pop" when you're looking for a little something extra. And the easiest way to add embossing is with the Cuttlebug from Provo Craft. You just put your paper in one of their folders and roll it through the machine and presto!

Here are a couple of cards that Penny and Rusty have made using the Cuttlebug:

When Penny and Rusty saw the D'vine Swirl Cuttlebug pattern, they thought it would look perfect as a giant wave. They embossed some blue cardstock and swiped a white ink pad over to make the swirls stand out. Then they cut out a wave pattern and added the surfer dude.

At the Copic - Copicabana

Penny and Rusty have tried many different stamping/crafting pens over the years but their current favourite pens are Copic markers. In the past, Penny and Rusty would try to colour in their stamping images with water-colour pencil crayons. At the time, this seemed like a great solution but sometimes the images seemed to lack a bit of richness in the colours.

At roughly $5 per marker (when they are on sale), Copics are not the cheapest way to colour your stamped images; but they are very versatile. Copics are alcohol-based markers with dual nibs that allow you to blend your colours to create depth and shadow in your images. And with hundreds of different colours to choose from, your only problem will be on trying to figure out which ones to buy.

Here are a couple of cards that Penny and Rusty have created with Copic markers:
